With these words, Harriet Jacobs begins her autobiography, â€Å"Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.† Written under the pseudonym Linda Brent, Jacobs harrowing account details her experiences as a slave in North Carolina, her escape to freedom in the north, and her ensuing struggles to free her children. It is one of the celebrated examples of the genre known as the slave narrative; a written or orally related account of the life of a slave, in the words of said slave. From 1760 to the end of the Civil War, approximately 100 autobiographies of fugitive or former slaves appeared. After slavery was abolished in the United States in 1865, at least 50 more former slaves wrote or dictated accounts of their lives (Gates, Introduction). The authors of these narratives typically began by writing about what it was like to be a child in bondage, giving us the first recorded accounts of African American child life. This is not surprising, considering the distinctive youthfulness of th e â€Å"home-grown† slave population in the South. While other slave societies in the Americas relied upon continuing imports of slaves, most slaves in the antebellum United States were native-born (The Domestic Slave Trade). Capital punishment, also referred to as the death penalty, is the utmost form of punishment in the United States. It is the method of punishment by execution legally given to a criminal convicted of a crime. Capital punishment originated from many early societies, it is only imposed on people who have committed very serious crimes, and only five different execution types are currently used in the United States. The death penalty has been around for a while. The first death penalty laws date back to the eighteenth century with the Code of Hammurabi. In the Code of Hammurabi, there were up to twenty five different crimes people could have been executed for. When the Europeans came to the United States, they brought the practice of capital punishment with them. In 1602, Captain George Kendall was the first person ex ecuted in the United States in the Jamestown Colony of Virginia because he was caught spying for Spain. In 1612, the governor of Virginia passed the Moral and Martial laws, which stated that the death penalty could be given to anyone found stealing grapes, killing chickens, or trading goods with Indians. The different death penalty laws varied from colony to colony. During ancient times, the death penalty could have been given to anyone for any crime. Now the death penalty is mostly imposed on anyone who has committed murder. During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in America and England, there were numerous crimes that colonist would be put to death for that they would just be incarcerated for today. These crimes included theft, manslaughter, and robbery. In the United States only two people were on death row for crimes other than murder. In 1974, Enrlich Anthony Coker escaped from prison and broke in the house of Allen and Elnita Carter. He raped Elnita and then stole the c ouple’s car and forced her to come along. He threatened to kill Elnita but never went through with it. Cooker was later caught by police and put on trial. He was sentenced to

In regarding the cultures, it has been stereotyping the people with depicting the offensive comments and the behaviors. In addition to this, the drawing of the incorrect pictures regarding the way of living their lifestyle is provided to the viewer. For example, the media has seemed to be deceiving the individuals with the specific pictures that are showed to the viewer with the help of the news bulletins and thereby it provides the specific characteristics that are rich, uneducated, angry emotions at times and the way of wearing special cloths (Bakali, 2013). These kinds of images displayed through the media channels seem to be offensive and thereby it does not represent the Middle Eastern cultures and behaviors. In addition to this Hollywood is becoming a stereotype in the regions of the middle east such as Arab which indicates the negative way for ma ny years for many years and thereby due to these reasons the middle eastern actors seems to be playing major role in the terrorist and the religious close minded groups which depicts the primitive and the very evil people. Hollywood seems to be contributing in a bad way with representing the movie watchers depicting a bad idea about the Middle Eastern people treating their womens. It henceforth determines the disrespect to the females of the Middle Eastern regions due to the dances that are represented in the Hollywood movies which are the Fatima Dance, belly dancers which represents the seductions of the men that are viewed (el-Aswad, 2013). Unfortunately the American media insulted the region of the Middle Eastern region with consisting of one stereotype in this case is depicted. In this way the American media insulted the cultures of the Middle Eastern regions with viewing the specific characters and behaviors in front of media. The media of North America has been against the cultures and religions of Middle Eastern in racist way, where the big media organizations influence hate to Muslims and middle eastern in the tv shows and news and hire creators who have anti-Islam and anti Arab ideology which is clear in their discussions and shows where they use few actions to judge middle eastern. For instance, in Fox News an article was featured regarding terrorist attack by the Nigerian man in 2009, US where the guest of the show promoted the public for hate and fear towards the Middle Eastern because of the terrorist attack by the non middle eastern Muslim person and such case was used to justify the vicious claims and hate towards the middle east by showing the actions of few extremes to the whole world (Elseewi, 2015). Therefore, it was very clear that the media of North America starts to attack the middle east after the attack of terrorist in New York in September 11 , where islamophobia was promoted by media. All the volunteering members of the team availed themselves punctually whenever there was a training and capacity building session to attend. Indeed, the size of a group matters a lot when it comes to performance. When a group is exceedingly large, it becomes more challenging to manage. Hence group efficacy is highly compromised since some members might feel that their tasks can be performed by others. I was able to foster cohesiveness among the team members. The group aimed at being proficient in offering social services after the training. From the survey, we came to realize that community health and environmental hygiene were two most critical areas that needed urgent attention. However, some members noted that they had little interest in these two areas. For example, some of them suggested that they were more interested in entertainment matters. Cases whereby group conflicts emerge are common especially when making specific decisions (Schein 2004, p.87). In spite of such differences, groups are supposed to remain cohesive and pursue a common agenda as set out in the initial objectives of the team. After reaching a consensus, we all agreed that the team would embark on sensitizing the community on environmental health and hygiene. We had to meet specific objectives during the outreach program and therefore, the team members agreed on some common and achievable goals. Some selected members were promptly trained after forming the team. In most of the training sessions, discussion groups were used to pass the message. This approach was adopted since it enabled members to actively participate in the capacity building and training program. It was also a strategy of enabling all members being trained to take part in decision making process. Although this approach was lauded to be good by most members, I realized that taking into consideration the opinion of every team member was hectic and time consuming. At the same time, members could differ greatly in terms of ideas. This only worsened the situation. However, I had to exercise patience and also allow members to cooperate throughout the training session. Group dynamics sometimes require deeper understanding of the uniqueness of each member of a team. Moreover, personal interdependence is exercised among group members whenever there is a collective approach towards issues within a group. In any case, higher achievement within a team can be attained whenever there is a cooperative learning experience (Kotlyar, Karakowsky Ng 2011, p.667).
